Ben has been a major force on Pellman's offense and one of our leading off-field social directors for 11 years, ever since he swallowed his pride in 1991 and agreed to join a team with Fairview guys on it. The Boulder High grad, nursing a bitter grudge against his crosstown rivals (a Montague-Capulet feud quite incomprehensible to the non-Boulderites amongst us), refused to accept a pass from Tom, Brad, or Al until his more diplomatic lawyerly instincts kicked in and he realized he was not getting any goals or glory that way. The ensuing truce ushered in a period of unprecedented productivity for the powerful-footed Ben, who transitioned easily from his traditional high school/college position of sweeper to offensive juggernaut and perennial team-leading goal scorer. Although he takes nothing quite so seriously as soccer (sorry, ladies), he puts on a good show of working for the community, both at the national level (several Democratic political campaigns + polling work) and the local, in his job as Boulder County Attorney for Open Space, in which capacity he buys and sells land to keep Boulder from becoming the overdeveloped wasteland familiar to residents of California or Rock Creek. He taught in Switzerland for a spell and currently spends quality time in his new mountain trailer, with a friendly bear (sorry, ladies).
