Ray arrived in Boulder in 1989 after a peripatetic post-collegiate spirit quest that
took him to London, Denver, Maine, Vermont, and California, before he found a decent
apartment really close to Liquor Mart in central Boulder. For the last ten years he
has alternated founding/working for high tech companies (one in Western
Massachusetts) with spending his savings in a footloose and profligate existence, furiously
scribbling wine-fueled masterpieces of the novelistic and scriptwriter's art, all of which
have gone unappreciated by the tragically over-sober custodians of the publishing and
filmmaking worlds. Nowadays, Ray divides his time equally between running his company,
Kaivo, a software consulting firm specializing in Open Source technologies,
avoiding creditors from his last failed start-up, and trying to perfect a recipe
for mango chutney pork rinds, which he is sure will be the Next Big Thing in America's
snack food diet.
